Edition Overview
Alfred Hitchcock (1889-1955) was a English filmmaker and producer who pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. As a master of montage, he created film scenes full of horror and his trademark suspense, simply by cutting and reassembling his raw film footage. He was popular for his so called art of pure cinema, which provoked emotion directly in the mind of the audience. His subtle sense of humor is represented in his cameo appearances that audiences knew to watch out for in every movie although his distinct profile was only seen for an instant.
