Edition Overview
Inspired by one of Matisse’s most famous artworks, the female Blue Nude III, the edition brings the motif to life in luminous blue and white lacquer on cap and barrel. The generously rounded, almost sculptural shape of the cap is a nod to the pronounced curves of many Matisse sculptures. The pattern on the platinum-coated cone borrows the elliptical shapes resembling flower petals. Blue precious resin surrounds the Montblanc emblem made of white precious resin on the cap top. The organic shape of the clip which features a white lacquer coating, is an homage to Matisse’s large-scale painting The Sheaf. The handcrafted, rhodium-coated solid Au 750 gold nib is embossed with two botanical elements reminiscent of The Sheaf and the interwoven letters ‘H’ and ‘M’.
